Blue Ridge Parkway Adventure

Day Six

Wednesday, July 3, 2002

We got up early and packed up everything again. We had plans to go to Shenandoah Caverns to see the America on Parade like Kimberly wanted to. We changed our plans though. Skyline Drive was not nearly as exciting as the Blue Ridge Parkway. We paid our $10 fee for entering Skyline Drive. We drove to the top, and while we were driving decided not to camp out that night. Instead we decided to head for Peachtree Ciy and stay with Kimberly's parents. Since Scott had been so impressed with Asheville, we (he) decided to take a slight detour and go to PTC via Asheville, NC. We got to see fireworks in Asheville from the car. That was fun! It was pitch black most of the way and raining as well. Kimberly did not enjoy the steep, dark mountain roads. We arrived at Kimberly's parents at about 3:00 in the morning. We were greeted with two deer standing in the driveway. Kimberly was less than thrilled with this event. She was looking forward to getting away from wildlife. Despite the late hour we HAD to take nice, long showers!!! It was heavenly!

The next day, July 4, we went to North Point Mall with my mom and saw Men in Black II. That night we enjoyed the fireworks from a new location in Peachtree City.

July 5 we went to Six Flags. Kimberly and Scott enjoyed the roller coasters, especially the Superman. We did not stay all day due to the extremely high temperatures. It really was a lot of fun though. We came back to Valdosta on July 6. It was good to be home, but we are ready for another vacation!
